My current work builds on the premise that written language is overdeveloped and consumed by cliché, unsuitable for the conveyance of pure ideas and thoughts. Language is necessary to portray facts and to analyse and verify claims, but in order to delineate emotions and vague sentiments, a simpler form of communication, one that is visual and immediate, is required.
Paul Mendez is a self-trained writer, presently working as a journalist and editorial assistant. Different times have seen him work as a rent boy and nude model, preach the coming day of Judgment as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, and smile behind a till at McDonalds. He doesn’t think he has ever made Art before.

The men of the moment (in my world). Canadian model and face of Givenchy, Simon Nessman; supermodel David Gandy, seen here in one of the shots from his 2008 Dolce & Gabbana calendar; and the future of fashion (and all-round nice guy), Jeremy Scott, in a pic taken from Solange Knowles' blog.
